  • My role involved attending team meetings about current marketing campaigns, observing the work of the creative studio teams, attending planning sessions, collaborating with members of my team and the wider HSBC network to complete my placement project, and working with fellow interns to complete group projects

  • I was given ownership over a whole project which I loved! My views were also completely valued and taken on board by the wider team

  • My manager was amazing and committed to me getting the most out of my placement - for example, we had daily sessions to give me the space to ask questions. We also had continuous development and training sessions delivered by HSBC

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The opportunity to get involved in employee resource groups about issues I was passionate about was great. It really summed up the speak up/make a difference attitude. Everyone was so supporting and accepting. They are really committed to inclusivity here!

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to HSBC
  • Be yourself. Having experience of finance is great, but it’s about your personality. Your drive to affect change. Also, don’t be put off if you come from a non-finance background/degree - I do Geography and to be perfectly honest, I wouldn’t be able to tell you who does a finance/economics degree and who doesn’t!
