    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

    • Due to MOD restrictions my answer is limited. Using CAD and MATLAB to create models and simulations, and then undergoing data analysis for optimisation.

    • Data analysis skills have been greatly improved and I have furthered my presenting and communication skills when sharing data with other colleagues.

    • Yes, I was responsible for gathering and presenting information to be used in contracted projects that would enable design influences and decisions to be made.

    • There was a strong channel of help and guidance available throughout the entirety of the placement. In terms of using some of the pre-existing tools developed within the department, these required patience and experience to learn, but with the help of more senior members of the department, this was not an issue.

    • It has a really friendly atmosphere, and the company is extremely dynamic and flexible to your requirements.

    • It was thoroughly enjoyable, since the team was very welcoming and the work was suitably challenging for a summer internship.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to MBDA

    • That they are very flexible to suit your needs so if you are looking for a work schedule where you can influence the hours and the days in and out of the office, it is a very suitable company. In terms of prospect, it probably lacks compared to other companies, so if you are looking to progress to managerial roles, probably look elsewhere.
