    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I worked with 10-12 students in a secondary school, supporting them one-on-one, small group and in class with there curriculum, social-emotional development, attendance, and enrichment, this was full-time in a school four days a week Mon-Thu with Fridays official training days. An overview of my day consisted of breakfast club first thing in the morning, gate duty once a week during PDM, and for every lesson I was either in class with students, doing one-to-one mentoring sessions, doing admin such as attendance calls, or logging my activities on VM connect and pastoral duties.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Some of the key skills which I developed were communication skills as I had to chat to teacher's, students, members of SLT, and members of my team on a regular basis, I also developed time management, management of projects and created my own resources which were all developed initally at university and perfected at this job. New skills I developed were attendance and punctuality as I had 100% attendance, I also developed management and leadership skills with the nature of my role meaning I took on various projects.
