    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As an intern, we were assigned to various projects that we contributed towards in the RMS department at PwC. This was across 4 sectors (banking, life, non-life, and C&G) and we were assigned randomly if not requested. We collaborated with team members and other interns to accomplish whatever tasks needed to be done. I personally was involved in projects that required me to program in Python, set-up events and document activities. Also, I was involved in a mini-project that required me to write-up a draft for a report.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I developed my ability to program in Python. I developed my ability to communicate effectively. I developed my ability at using LLM like ChatGPT. I developed my ability to network and socialise with people in addition to speaking with people of different seniority. I developed my ability to write reports.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There were lots of support and guidance as there were many people we could turn to for help and this was outlined in the introductory talks given on the first day. We had multiple people such as a Career Coach, a buddy, our fellow interns, our project leads etc. So we had ample support if we needed it. In terms of guidance, my project leads were reasonably good at instructing us at what they wanted us to do however near the start of the internship some were unresponsive

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • If I had to give an enjoyment rating out of ten, I would give it a 6. I enjoyed many parts of the internship but at times I felt I was not developing the skills I wanted to develop and I was shackled to projects that involved menial work. Moreover, at times I had no work to do and was left to my own devices despite trying to get work from Resourcing and failing. Otherwise, the company culture is excellent and the people I've met were very warm and friendly.
