    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Collecting and analysing data collected for your specific project, while planning future work and ensuring your findings are well documented to present to supervisors or interested parties. Days range between all lab work to all desk work, with an individuals tasks being fairly different between undergraduate projects.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Analytical skills were expanded greatly, HPLC and mass spectrometry specifically played a large role day to day. Presentational skills were developed due to continuous communication of project results. Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Independence was encouraged however making use of the the teams resources is paramount. As much responsibility as you are willing to take on is provided, with pushes outside your comfort zone at certain points in your project.

  • Relaxed but focused. The culture is generally unconcerned with formal clothing or specific hours allowing for each individual to work in the way that is best for them, the focus is instead on efficient and healthy working where generally if you are reaching your goals and providing the value required of you the company is unconcerned with your personal best way of reaching that goal.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • The placement provided me a perfect environment to stretch my legs, and come into my own. The level of personal growth over the last year has been great, and while working a job and finishing my degree at the same time was a challenging experience my time at Pfizer led me to pursue a career within the company.

  • 7. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
  • Your supervisor will likely reach out before you come to Pfizer, ask them plenty of questions about your upcoming project. It's a huge leap and understanding as much as you can before arriving will make it that much easier. Also, do not forget your university work. Do not leave it to the last minute, it's so easy to put it off after a long day. Get it done, you will feel much better for it
