    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Throughout the 3 days, I gained valuable knowledge about working in Deal Advisory, especially about the day-to-day tasks and the skills used in each area. I really enjoyed meeting with graduates within the areas of Deal Advisory which included M&A, Strategy and Transactional services. It was interesting to learn more about KPMG's stance on sustainability and ESG, which was then implemented in the group case study where I designed an app with other students that supported KPMG in reaching their environmental goals. Additionally, I enjoyed listening to the numerous talks that were scattered throughout the programme, particularly about the networks, ESG and motivation.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved my teamwork from the group case study we completed where we had to design an app to support KPMG's environmental goals. Additionally, it helped me develop my presentation and critical thinking skills as we had to present our app to a Director and then we were asked questions about it. The networking opportunities during the program accelerated my communication skills as I met like-minded students as well as graduates that were in Deal Advisory roles.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The staff and student recruitment team made us feel welcome and delivered an engaging event. It was an amazing experience going to the KPMG Canary Wharf office in London on the first day and meeting like-minded students. Employees were willing to take questions from us and share their experiences at KPMG. It was constantly reiterated that interns shouldn't be scared to interact with senior staff, since everyone has been in this position before. Overall, the students were very engaged in the talks and the staff were accommodating.
