    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • • Overseeing all PMO operations. • Providing timely and accurate reports. • Managing processes related to data retention, contracts, and certain payrolls, to ensure that deadlines and expectations are met. • Organising and providing minutes for meetings. • Completing relevant adhoc tasks, such as collating data for exiting projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, my networking skills have improved greatly, my time management and organisation skills have developed further, and my general knowledge and expertise in completing daily tasks and working within a large business has significantly improved. I have also gained skills in finance through my rotation within the department and I have gained experience in the marketing department too.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility as I progressed through my placement, with no micro managing and a more relaxed approach from management than other similar companies (from what I have heard).

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There was plenty of support and guidance, although it is worth noting that I had to ask for guidance rather than simply expecting it - communication is key. People at CGI are very friendly and welcoming and the company has a great culture.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very good, the organisation structure feels very flat and I felt comfortable discussing a wide range of things with directors and even presidents of business units. The company embraces a culture of acceptance and made me feel at ease throughout my time on placement.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • The social hub at the company is excellent in London and it ensures that there are wide variety of social events throughout the year. Many people go for a drink after work and are social during work hours too. I have met many great people throughout my placement and I have gained a lot from my experiences working in London.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to CGI
  • Consider what you bring to the company, not in terms of intelligent, although that is of course important, but in terms of your experiences and how you can foster the values at the company. The recruitment at CGI appears to be holistic and many of the employees come from varied backgrounds and have had different journeys to enter the company.
