    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The insight was a valuable opportunity which really allowed me to learn more about KPMG. The staff involved were lovely, kind and welcoming and easily approachable which made the whole experience more comforting and less daunting than I initially thought. There were lots of chances to learn more about working at KPMG - the work itself and also the office environment and it was helpful to understand what kind of work I would do if I joined full time

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • These Insight Days really develop you and prepare you for assessment centres and they're great opportunities to fast track and network. Specifically we could try mock exercises and understand what the interview process and questions are like, and how to excel at these. I have done similar practices at university but the real world experience on this insight was so much better, understanding first hand how they assess and what they look for in a candidate

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • I have always wanted to go into a professional services firm and this insight only strengthened my desire to do so. The presentations about KPMG, seeing employees in action etc. were all helpful to get a good feeling of the company. You can also speak with junior staff who are new in from university, and taking on college, and ask them how they have transitioned and what they enjoy about the company and the culture. This was very helpful.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The insight was well designed and helped me a lot to gain an understanding of the culture at KMPG. The insight was only of a short duration but it was enough to sense those things. I would have never gained this insight from reading reviews on the internet, as much as I did read these reviews for KPMG and other big forms around the region (of which there are several). The reviews said the culture was good and I found that to be true.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed my insight experience at KPMG. Everyone was friendly to me and I got a lot of insights I did not expect. The internship was really valuable to me since I now realise what it actually takes to be successful in the process and how to stand out from other strong candidates applying from universities that are as popular and well regarded as mine. I would recommend to others to do their research and read reviews on this site to best prepare

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG
  • There are several tips I would give - - 1. Look at the reviews on this site and learn more about the firm! 2. give lots of effort to your online application. It isn;t long but should be filled in accurately 3. Apply soon after opening and get through the process quickly 4. Ask questions in interview as the people can help bring the firm to life and you can understand what it is like doing the internship
