    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I independently drive my main project, in addition to having involvement in secondary projects. My main project focuses on creating a predictive model, allowing development in my technical skills within software's such as Minitab, Microsoft Office and Python. The experimental data for this model was gathered through laboratory studies, allowing me to expand on my GLP. I have also had opportunities to plan and arrange events in addition to doing a multitude of presentations.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes. I have learnt a new technical skill, coding, using Python. I have also continually developed my skills within Minitab and Microsoft Office. Through presentations, reports and coordinating events, I have had the opportunity to develop my verbal communication and written skills. Co-ordinating events has also improved my ability to time-keep, think innovatively and collaborate efficiently with others as a team. I had the opportunity to participate in 'Pathways to Leadership', developing my leaderships skills.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. My main project is imperative to the team as it will help to improve the overall efficiency of e-liquid development. In addition to my technical project, as interns, we were given the responsibility of coordinating a speed networking session with established leaders of BAT as well as other tasks such as a poster breakfast morning. In addition, each month one intern was set the task of setting up a meeting whereby each intern presents their recent project updates.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I was provided with constant support from these 3 contacts in addition to a multitude of people within my team and other departments.
