    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Identifying sales opportunities and support on sales solutions and materials. Support on lifecycle strategies and initiatives to keep content relevant. Managing creative materials such as copywriting pitch decks, briefing them out to the agency, and managing the relationship. Pulling sales reports for various titles, formatting and summarizing the data to send out to key executives. Reporting/research including sales reports, market insights, and festival wrap-ups. Watch, research and feedback on new titles. Updating trackers. Taking notes during border team/bigger meetings.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have been able to develop my communication, time management, attention to detail, presentation, and networking skills. I have also developed key technical skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI. Various events run by HR and LinkedIn learning courses proved to be extremely useful during my internship, which complemented the work I was doing as I was able to get involved in activities outside my day-to-day job. My manager positively pushed networking within the business, which is something I had never done before. This helped me speak to various departments across the business and learn about different avenues I could take, how everyone works together, as well as improve my communication skills and relationship with business leaders in the process.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • As the internship progressed and the more comfortable I was within my role, the more responsibility I was given, although I was responsible for certain tasks from day 1. I was given responsibility to handle the sales materials such as the master docs deck which involved updating the key information and images. I was also responsible for managing the pitch decks that are used by the sales teams, this involved writing the outline, sending them out to a creative agency, and managing the relationship throughout with the feedback. Other tasks involved updating the trackers that the team used, sending out weekly news to the wider team, sending out digital dates to the content strategy team, as well as deal with any ad-hoc requests that I would directly receive. Towards the second half of my internship, I was given responsibility to complete bigger projects that involved sales report summaries on Excel, present our titles to LA teams, and help present a TV Distribution overview to the department. These experiences have been rewarding as I was able to tie in everything I have learnt and showcase my skills and industry knowledge.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a great deal of support from my manager, team, early careers team, and the business as a whole. I was given enough guidance on exactly what to do on the tasks I was given, why we do them, and of course any questions I might have were always answered. As someone with no previous media experience, my manager guided me through industry knowledge, key terms, and relevant information to help me understand my teams role within the business. I also had regular development sessions that helped me track my progress, what I have learnt, and anything I can improve on. Everyone is always open and happy to help, which made the whole experience enjoyable as I felt well supported.
