I had a great year at NBCUniversal, it was my first role and have learnt a lot during the year. My role was hands on and I had responsibilities that were mine and real work to do, I wasn't just making tea or coffee. I had the opportunity to learn a lot about media and how a big corporate company operates, and this was an invaluable experience. And talks from business leaders were also very insightful.
This placement/year long internship was everything I had hoped it to be, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I I've had amazing exposure across many different films and worked very closely with lots of different talent at some really cool publicity events and premieres! I finished uni a couple years ago so was taking this internship hoping that it might materialize into a permanent role either at the company or at one of the many agencies that they work with. I am happy to say that I have been offered a permanent role, so really I couldn't be happier that I tool this job.
I really loved my placement experience in general! The atmosphere of the office makes you want to get up and be productive every single day. My team was lovely, trustworthy, honest, and most importantly, ensured that I have enough responsibility on a weekly basis. This allowed me to not only feel valued, but to thrive and evolve my skills further (whether they were personal or technical). The lock down placement experience was also very enjoyable. I would not change it for anything :)
The placement provided a good, extensive overview of the company processes and structures, and it was very helpful in showing what the industry looks like and functions. The tasks themselves were mostly admin based and basic, but you are obviously just an intern and you are there to learn, which you do end up doing very much. The company atmosphere is great and informal compared to other corporate companies, which was helpful to settle in well.
I have highly enjoyed my placement at NBCUniversal. There are so many opportunities for networking and expanding your professional network as well as making friends! The company has a lovely, friendly atmosphere and encourages every individual to do their best. I have enjoyed particularly working for a global media company, and the benefits this brings - you feel you're a part of something very special!
Starting the internship was a bit overwhelming and I didn't really have a set list of responsibilities. This was because I was the first intern to this role. However, overtime I began to settle into the role more, gained responsibilities that gave more structure to my internship (Year long) and started to enjoy the internship more. I believe the next intern to replace me will not have these issues and will take up the responsibilities I have developed over time, so will settle into the role better.
I enjoyed it massively, I gained insight into one of the most incredible and renowned company's in the world - and that experience is invaluable. I made some amazing memories with my team and I managed to network with numerous people in the company, from intern to exec level - which I have now made life long connections with.
Working at NBCUniversal has been an enjoyable and challenging experience. There is a good balance between the work and it's social aspect of being a part of the company meaning you are able to get to know people across the business in a more casual way. Similarly, as there are many interns hired you feel less overwhelmed and more a part of a community. I felt that I had enough work to keep me engaged and interested in what I did most of the time.
I have really enjoyed my internship with Universal Pictures. It was clear that NBCUniversal make sure that their staff are well cared for and supported throughout the year. The Early Careers team were excellent in creating a social network between the interns, holding multiple social events as well as creating a team challenge for us to take part in. I have learnt so much about Digital Marketing and have had the opportunity to network with various departments within the company. It has been an amazing start to a career in film.
Working at NBCUniversal for the past 10 months has been everything and more than what I expected. Everyone I have met along the way has been so willing to help with nothing being too much trouble and always ensure you succeed in everything you do. I feel the company does well at looking after their staff and offering an open door to discuss any problems or issues you may have. I have made some life long friends whilst working for NBCUniversal which I'm very grateful for.
I enjoyed the resourcefulness of the company and its culture. There has been so much support and so much openness from everyone. If I wanted to learn more about a specific aspect of the business it was as easy as walking up to someone's desk and ask for a 1to1 meeting. I can't think of anyone at NBCU who would reject even if they don't know you yet.
Overall, my internship was an invaluable experience which enabled me to learn a lot and has set me up for a future career with the skills I need to take on a role in my department and a much wider understanding of the industry as a whole. The company itself seems to value its interns and regularly set up events to ensure we were all enjoying our time there and getting the most possible out of it.
I had a great experience. There were a lot of events being organised throughout the year (some teams have more events than others) which is great to be a part of. The Christmas Party was great and very fun. You meet a lot of people not only from your team and the people you work with, but also through other interns. The work was interesting and was busy throughout the year long internship. I learned a lot during this one year.
Over the year it has been great, from going to a number of events and working on numerous projects and taking ownership of task I have felt part of the team. I look forward to coming into work every day and it has been such a great experience at NBCUniversal
