    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • A placement in the global digital team is a role in which you will help to manage GSK’s global brand image and reputation through its corporate digital platforms. The team is responsible for the GSK.com global corporate web estate and social channels Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. You will work with the team to manage the channels, in the most part our global website (GSK.com) and produce engaging and inspiring content with clear and consistent messaging to support the communications requirements across the business. You will be in contact with people in the UK and across the world, constantly developing your interpersonal skills as well your organisational and problem-solving abilities. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from channel and content experts across the business as well as external digital agency partners, while establishing a network of contacts. You will become proficient in web editing, web quality management tools, Google Analytics and running a community on Workplace.

  • Technical skills such as using Content Management Systems (CMS), excel. Communication, writing, researching and analysing all support this role. I have improved my problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

    Responsibilities

  • Yes, this role gives you lots of responsibility. This tole means you have the responsibility of working with key stakeholders to deliver meaningful external content on behalf of GSK. The projects you work on are important to the business. You are trusted with lots of responsibility, but there are also always support/guidance when you need it.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The training and guidance is excellent. In your first few weeks you learn a lot and are guided through with lots of support, both for technical parts of the job and general guidance. The team are very supportive and friendly and are always there to help.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • GSK has a brilliant culture. It is extremely flexible and inclusive. The company is focused on delivering for patients and doing the right thing. There is a lot of encouragement and guidance on working in a way that best suits an individual, as well as encouraging collaboration. The atmosphere is very inclusive and supportive.
