    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • At the first day we received a welcoming session and a presentation of the coordinators of each division. After that we participated in a networking workshop and a trading simulation. On the following days, the schedule was focused on divisional insights, therefore splitting us into groups. We would receive 40 minute presentations from different teams of our division where they would explain their roles and the responsibilities. Finally, we had a few networking opportunities.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Networking and communication skills were key during the programme. We also did a few short activities that encouraged team working and presentation skills as we had to explain our point.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • This was definitely one of the most valuable learnings from the programme. We come with superficial beliefs and the teams explain us way better how it works and how are they linked with different parts of the company. They also explain the importance of different skills needed on each role.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Incredibly, this seemed unanimous between employees. Everyone when speaking mentioned how the culture of the company and the working environment makes them want to stay. We usually imagine that core values are a talk but in Morgan Stanley it genuinely seems to be a serious matter for directors, coordinators and interns.

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was enjoyable since day one. They developed a way of mixing everyone and making us create bonds since the welcoming session until the last day. We were put in very comfortable positions to make questions and have doubts. This is probably something people would be afraid to avoid vulnerability and they gave us a lot of space for making questions.

  • 7. Would you recommend Morgan Stanley to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Morgan Stanley
  • Try to show the differentials you can bring to the company as they value a lot diversity and inclusion. I would also recommend studying a lot the core values of the company as they encourage people that can connect to them and therefore relate to the company environment.
