Technology Spring Insight Intern Review

The insight programme comprised of 4 days followed by a virtual assessment center for the 2024 Summer Analyst or Industrial Placement positions. On the first day of the programme we were given a brief overview of the firm and the use of technology throughout the firm. We also had a Group project session. The second day involved more sessions giving an overview of the different divisions of technology in the firm and also had Coding and Problem solving sessions. We continued to work on the group project. The third day was started with each group presenting their solution to the given problem and was followed by more insight and interactive sessions. There were networking sessions throughout the programme. The final day gave an insight into the assessment center and the programme came to a close with a fun charity activity.

I learnt a lot of new skills through the insight programme. I was given the opportunity to improve my networking skills through various talks on networking and networking sessions. I was able to improve my soft skills like teamwork, communication, etc. through the Group project session. I developed my problem solving and coding skills through the insightful sessions and activities. The assessment center overview sessions helped me to embrace the problem solving approach which helped me in my assessment center.

It was a very valuable experience learning about the firm and the available roles and team. It gave me a good understanding of how a large bank operates and especially how technology is playing a pivotal role in the day to day operations of a large investment bank. The programme involved many insight and interactive sessions delivered by teams within the technology division which provided me an in depth understanding of how the different teams operate and collaborate.

It was a very positive environment which really laid a lot of emphasis on the core values of the business. Every decision was made in alignment with the core values. The company also laid a lot of emphasis on a collaborative culture. Diversity and inclusivity, being one of the core values, was given a lot of importance and was evident from the diversity of the Spring Insight cohort. Overall Morgan Stanley had a very positive and welcoming company culture.

The spring insight programme was a very enjoyable experience. Every session had an element of fun embedded in it. I found the collaborative learning experience of the group project sessions to be really enjoyable. We also had dinner at a restaurant as part of the spring insight programme. I also enjoyed taking part in the charity activity organized at the end of the spring insight programme which allowed me to exchange ideas with my peers and make a small difference in the community.
