    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Running wet-lab experiments, general cell culture maintenance and analysing data. Presenting this data during internal meetings and some external meetings with collaborator companies. Reading relevant literature. Designing experiments, feeding back to managers and producing data to progress my project.

  • Gained in-depth experience in a variety of molecular biology techniques. Focus and expertise on two techniques, plus the ability to experience and learn other techniques to a lesser degree.

  • Yes, I have agency to suggest and design my own experiments and have been responsible for producing high-quality data that my team will publish into a paper.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Plentiful support, regular check ins with my manager, a buddy system for new starters to learn the ropes, a very welcoming team that always offer support when I need it. Lots of support at the start which allowed me to come gradually more independent over the course of the internship.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Wonderful company with hard-working and friendly peers, very collaborative and everyone is always happy to help, support and teach others so everyone is constantly developing and learning.

  • Fantastic experience, I intend to apply for a permanent position once one is available. I feel extremely fortunate and grateful to have had such a great experience. I would rate more than 5 stars if I could!
