    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I normally start my day by responding to any emails in my inbox and then carrying out any high priority tasks that are blocked out in my calendar for that day. If I am in charge of the any inboxes, I check those periodically throughout the day. I attend meetings and 1:1 sessions with my mentor or my supervisor regularly. I would also carry out my university project where possible.

  • I have learnt minute-taking skills, how to identify what information is of interest, how to add context to data, email etiquette, MS Excel skills, MS Project Skills, Power BI skills and public speaking skills.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Cancer Research UK
  • I would say be yourself at the interview, as much as it is about having the perfect CV with the relevant experiences it is also about personality and letting that shine through. If you're feeling doubtful apply anyway because they don't expect you to be perfect, a lot of the skills you actually learn on the job.
