Summer Analyst Review

I completed a ten-week summer internship in the Citi ICG Securities Services Operations Risk & Control Team. Overall, the experience was very good having been provided excellent training and exposure to Citi. I also found the culture to be focused on collegiality and always felt included, even by teams in other countries. I would definitely recommend any programme to someone, it provides an invaluable opportunity to both learn about Citi and to network with people from other departments you may also have an interest in.

Yes, we were given very in-depth training on financial markets, communication skills and python. Additionally, my communication and presentation skills have developed.

Yes, my team were very good in delegating me work which allowed me to feel like I had a valued input.

There was support everywhere in Citi, from your team, HR and other employees. I genuinely felt like everyone there was willing to help even when networking with senior bankers they were always willing to take the time to have a chat and give you advice.

The culture was definitely one focused on collegiality. I considered that from the outside banks are quite daunting but as soon as I stepped foot in the door I realised how nice and relaxed everyone was.

I enjoyed it so much, all I want to do now is return to Citi and I think my fellow interns to do!

I would advise them to focus on the area they are interest in and learn everything about the business, it’s departments, the people and the work it does. This would not only help in the interview but you would be much more focused and confident when you began the programme.
