    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide strategic guidance to product teams ultimately leading to the successful authorisation of new medicines across the globe, whilst ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and guidelines. Responsible for product licence maintenance and lifecycle activities such as expansion of indications. Working in a cross-functional team environment, optimising a global dossier submission strategy, acting as a liaison between the company and regulatory authorities such as EMA, Anvisa, FDA. Ensure that a company's products comply with regulations and keep up to date with national and international legislation, guidelines and customer practices. Collect, collate and evaluate scientific data from a range of sources develop and write clear arguments and explanations for new product licences and submissions of licence variations to strict deadlines. Write clear, accessible product labels and patient information leaflets plan and develop product trials and interpret trial data advise scientists and manufacturers on regulatory requirements provide strategic advice to senior management throughout the development of a new product project manage teams of colleagues involved with the development of new products

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Work-wise, my responsibilities evolved as my internship progressed, and I acquired more understanding. I found myself working on projects, managing projects from end-to-end working along senior level management. This gave an opportunity to work and learn from various colleagues and integrate with my various teams. Asides from my role, I had the chance to work on several volunteering activities and take part both as a lead and as a team member

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The support during my internship was excellent. I was supported by my manager and work colleagues. The work I was doing was new to me, and my manager ensured that I understood the work and explained to me complex concepts and regulatory processes. Moreover, there was constant training and other resources available for support. Everyone I worked with were always available to help and answer any questions. Although I worked remotely, I found it easy to reach out to people and set up meetings if needed.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture and general atmosphere at Pfizer is awesome! Everyone at Pfizer is respected and treated as a colleague. You will never get the stereotypical "intern" treatment. The people at Pfizer are really helpful, friendly and welcoming. It is a big company and although the staff numbers are large, I felt like an important member of the team and this was reflected by the level of responsibilities I was given.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I loved my placement year! I really enjoyed working with Pfizer, the company cares about its employees and patients worldwide. Pfizer cares about improving the life of people with breakthrough treatments. From the induction weeks, through to the final day of my placement, I was always made to feel at ease and welcomed. I was given lots of help and support from those around me, and I was given real responsibilities in regulatory, which has impacted my career prospects positively. I would recommend Pfizer to others for an internship!

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
  • Pfizer is a big and hugely targeted company by top candidates. When you are considering a placement at Pfizer, look at their website and social media pages to understand what they do and how the company is organized. Understanding as much as possible about the company and the work they do will help you be a more competitive candidate. Be intentional with why do you want to work at Pfizer and what role/area attracts you and why. Apply early!!!
