    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is assisting the BPS team with supporting hotels in the EMEA region. Day-to-day tasks include updating internal websites, sending out team communications and answering cases and emails from hotels. My responsibilities also include helping to organise upcoming team events, birthday celebration cards and cakes for the team as well as content creation for various workstreams. Some projects I have been involved with is reviewing current internal website content and categorising invoices on excel.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed skills in using not only internal applications but also Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I have also developed teamwork and communication skills from working with the team and being in contact with hotels, by email and phone. I have improved my organisation and time management skills, by handling a range of tasks that often have deadlines.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have been given sufficient responsibilities for various daily, weekly and monthly task as well as completing ad-hoc tasks. I have also been given a capable amount of input/responsibility in certain projects, where I was given the chance to assist my colleagues in short-term and long-term projects. The responsibilities so far have been a good amount, where I have been pushed to a certain extent but the workload has remained manageable.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • In the onboarding period during my first month, I received daily check-ins and regular feedback and reflection sessions which were very effective for giving and receiving feedback. Since then, I have regular check-ins via workstream meetings and guidance is provided when necessary. The probation meetings discussed feedback and planned in more detail how to improve certain skills. Throughout the year I will also receive intern check-ins with the HR department and other interns.

During my first month, I attended Team Member Appreciation Week celebrations as well as working at a corporate sales event in Park Lane, London.
