  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Completing programme tasks. Work in a team with different skill sets and levels of experience. Had a good level of responsibility. Cant explain in detail due to security reasons

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes! Learnt more into web development with places I haven't explored before. Got an understanding of what the software department roles is in the overall company as well as my place in that department. Learnt how to interact with different parts of the company. Got to work in a team of different skill levels. Went to meeting with high level members of the site I was on.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I would say the perfect amount. Was never not given something because I was new, they gave me their trust and faith from the get go. I was working on a genuine piece of software which would be used for the company's benefit.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My team leader was very supportive in helping throughout my whole time at the company as well as my wider team. My buddy was very helpful during the initial stages of the placement even before I started working here. Sometime I communicated through emails to speak to team mates as they sometimes seemed busy but majority of the time had quick and meaningful responsive.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very welcoming! Had activities going on around site every so often, like a pizza day where they gave out pizza. Even though I did not need it I was aware of the company's support to multiple causes. The Bristol site is not as good in terms of sport club as other sites, but there is a gym 10 minutes walk from the site.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • The work was at a good level of entertaining and not too stressful. The team were very friendly and helpful. The company has a very comforting feel. Felt less stressful than I expected which gave benefits when stuck on a problem. I would definitely recommend to someone looking for a placement

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to MBDA
  • I would say the interview process it the most intense part of the application. The hardest part is dealing with all the various forms for the security as this definitely caused me stress as I had to fill them out while I was mid way through a university term. For day one I would just take in a much as possible but your not expected to do anything on the first day. I was inspired to join because I go to the local university and heard it was well respected
