Overview
I had the chance to realize various tasks: From putting together teasers to long-term projects that involved creating a standardized FactSet driven pre-IFRS 16 long term trading over the cycle excel file. I really enjoyed working at Rothschild. I was challenged a lot and every task was a learning experience.
Skills
- I became more detail-oriented and concise because every work handed in had to be mistake free and straight to the point - I loved working on my problem solving skills, especially when I had to create an excel database (create very complex formulas, account for every exceptions and automate the whole process using just Excel) - I became more sociable in a working environment (asking for coffee chats, participating in work events...)
Responsibilities
I was. They would assess how you are preforming with simple tasks at first and then give you more and more responsibility as time goes by.
Support & Guidance
People are very nice and very open to help (whether it's analyst, AD or director). I would to just go up to their desk and ask anyone for help and they would happily oblige. Communication is very free and easy and I felt very supported during my whole internship.
Culture
The hierarchy is flat and the atmosphere is very laid back. It is so easy to feel part of the team because people are very welcoming and nice. As it is a very busy team, it's a "work hard play hard" kind of culture
Your Impressions
I loved it here. It was the best internship I had so far!
Yes
I would advice them to go up to people and ask them for coffee chats, so they can learn more about the company and the culture. Generally, it is very important to identify to the culture and see whether the person will be comfortable working for a certain company.
