    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Worked with digital team to deliver new components of apps in particular the messaging service. Collated data from different teams to understand use cases and reasoning behind each new message and feature and target audience. Worked with technology team to see what data is available and can be harnessed and the constraints to what can be built.

  • New skills learnt like Confluence and Jira applications usage. Existing skills developed like soft skills, communication, networking, powerpoint, excel, teamwork and so on. Learnt how to work in pressure and time constraint.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, was given responsibility to deliver products and deliverables. Responsibility was in general to my team and to the wider team we were working with. Ensured I complete my work on time as without that others would not be able to carry on their work.

  • Constant support provided by manager and the employment team. Regular check ins and check ups given on wellbeing and mental health. Several events organised to ensure social aspect.

  • Great inclusive and diverse culture. Intern feedback and opinion always welcomed. Friendly colleagues and always happy to take the time out to chat or provide any help

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement in particular the work I did. I got on well with my team and everyone was friendly and welcoming. I would like to work in this organisation. The wider events and socials were also good fun.

  • Be true to yourself and your values. HSBC values people who are who they are, don't try change to fit in a mould. Bring your true self to work and HSBC will be a great place.
