Overview
We are assigned an intern project which is the overarching goal of the internship. Attend regular stand ups with my team, network with VP and EDs in the firm and specific business unit, learn project language and complete project.
Skills
Learnt new language, SPL, and learnt about new platforms, eg Salesforce, Sherpa, ESP, etc.
Responsibilities
Given a fairly critical project which would benefit team if completed properly. Didn't have any direct responsibilities in the day to day work of my team as most of my time was spent on my project. Networked with team and other people in different teams to get a perspective on what they are doing instead.
Support & Guidance
Everyone is very willing to help. You can email just about anyone in the company and they are very likely to reply and want to help you out.
Culture
Really great, very friendly. There is a sense of community within tech that means most people really want to help you out where they can. Joined in with some employee network events like London Pride which was the highlight of the internship experience for me.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed it.
Yes
Don't be nervous approaching people. Tech is very friendly and everyone wants you to succeed. Reach out to as many people as possible, and make sure you speak to people in other teams you are interested in.
