The Role
Really like my job was given lots of responsibility and challenges
My team all made me feel really welcome.
My manage was very supportive and approachable, he understood that I was bound to make mistakes and was happy to answer any questions I had.
Some days I did have little work and some days I had to much but on the whole I would say it was a perfect balance as most of the time I had enough work to last me the day and I knew what work I had to get on with first thing the next morning too.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility within my role and felt I had the trust of my team.
I think relating business knowledge to my university studies is really going to be able to help, as I work in the Alliances team I now understand how Alliance Partners work more fully and also the business to business industry. Also how large organisations fit together.
The Company
I sit next to 5 other interns so the office always has a certain buzz about it.
Very well, HP have been taking placement students for years - there is a month handover period with the previous intern to make the transition smoother.
There are certain training sessions available but you are given a month hand over period where the previous intern in your role teaches you so essentially you are given 1 months worth of on -the-job training.
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
There are lots of graduate roles available in HP.
The Culture
The interns run a committee which looks after events, charity and the intern summer ball. Throughout the year the interns attend nights out including inter-company socials so not only do you get to mix with other people at HP but interns from Microsoft, Panasonic and many more from the Reading/ Bracknell area. The interns also get involved in lots of charity events and raised over £25k this year of which a % goes towards funding our summer ball.
Pretty cheap, live in Reading which has a lot of students and therefore student nights out. House rent was £300 a month.
Reading isn't really my type of night life but in terms of getting people out from other companies etc it was really good.
Yes, especially charity events - the 3 peaks being one of them.
