    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day-to-day basis I shadowed the Tax team and was able to get involved in helping with work and projects. The work was varied and interesting as I was able to see how projects developed and the different types of work the team would get involved in. I was able to be a part of client and internal meetings which helped further my understanding of the projects and gave me the chance to connect with other colleagues.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I was able to develop a variety of skills during my internship. One skill I developed was becoming more confident using the different technology that was available as I had to use this on a day-to-day basis. I also improved my research and data collecting skills for presentations I had to help make and being able to effectively network was essential to get involved with work and projects and make connections within the team and wider.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • During my time I was given responsibility where it felt like the work I helped with or produced was useful for the team. I was given deadlines and some client work to help with where I had more responsibility to ensure the work I completed was to a high level of accuracy. I also took part in a social enterprise project where within a group of interns we all had to take responsibility to ensure we had enough research, ideas and data to make a presentation that we then had to deliver to members of the PwC team and to the external social enterprise.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I had a Buddy and a Career Coach within my team who contacted me during my first week to help welcome me to the office. Throughout the placement I had regular contact and meetings with both of them and spent a lot of time in the office with them. The wider team were also very welcoming and all helped find work and projects for me. Everyone was friendly and always made time to help with any problems or answer any questions.

There is also different events each week within the office. • I really enjoyed my time at PwC as an intern. • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • You need to really understand what it is the company does and especially the sort of work that the line of service you are applying to undertake. This helps you to be able to openly discuss and talk about why you want to work for PwC and helps with interviews. The assessment centre and interview process were challenging but designed to be interactive so that they felt less daunting during the process, ensure to give yourself lots of preparation time before the application.
