    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I developed my communication skills and my ability to convey information concisely and clearly. I improved on my note-taking skills and ability to pull out key information. I Improved my Tax specific knowledge and my general accounting awareness - just chatting to and discussing ideas with fellow team members was really useful. Developed my confidence to ask questions and widen my knowledge base through learning from those above me. I was also able to learn to use Onesource, process accounts and to draft due diligence reports.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility with the interns dragons den challenge - we had direct contact with the client and were able to make independent recommendations based on the information we were given. I was also given responsibility in the team generally - as I was asked to complete task independently and form drafts/edit computations based on the information I was given. I was able to set my own goals and therefore set out for myself what I wanted to gain from the internship.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received support from the team in general and training was given my the student recruitment/internship teams. In the office I received a significant amount of support from those around me who made me feel valued and welcome during my time. I was given a Career Coach, who guided me through the process and set/organised tasks accordingly, and a Buddy, who was a fantastic port of call for any queries I had and had a breadth of knowledge regarding the graduate scheme and exams. I was also invited to attend various socials and team events by various members of the wider team, who were all very encouraging and welcoming.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at PwC. Across all forms of Work, Team culture and company wide culture I was welcomed and encouraged. I was encouraged to be curious and ask questions - the team were patient and helpful no matter how stupid I thought my questions were. It exceeded my expectations in terms of interest and engagement. Overall, I'd love to come back to PwC and work here in the future - I've had a great time.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • Don't be afraid to be yourself. The interview and assessment centre process is designed to pick out those who will fit in and thrive at the firm. Don't be concerned about the formality of the process - dress for your day is exactly what it says on the tin, wear whatever you're comfortable in. Everyone wants to help you, so ask questions and get involved! Team socials are a great way to get involved and feel integrated with the team, if you can I'd say always make an effort to go!
