    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role was to undertake basic accountancy tasks, usually working with spreadsheets, to contribute to my team's audit of a particular client. Usually this involved cross referencing transactions and collating information into an overall document. I was also expected to use my time to get to know the company and the professional services industry, and the people I worked with gave me excellent advice and insights.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learned the basics of the accounting software used by PwC as well as developed an appreciation for audit processes and procedures. The internship also allowed me to hone my interpersonal and business skills by participating in team meetings on a daily basis as well as working on a separate social enterprise project with other summer interns.

However, these still contributed to the audit of the client and therefore I was expected to ask questions to ensure the work was thorough and correct. It was my responsibility to manage my time and communicate with the team on my progress.
