    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day to day basis I carried out administrative tasks that related to the client work that my superiors were focusing on. I was allowed to carry out tasks that are actually quite important as a base for further work. I also attended meetings and went to the client site with the team. Every day is very different and a lot of the tasks are really repetitive which is great for getting to grips with all the new technology.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learned how to use very specific auditing software and that there are many different types of software that auditors use throughout their audit in order to get the best results for the client. I have improved on my excel skills and I have also improved my confidence because I have become more confident asking for help when needed and more confident in my abilities as time has gone on. I also believe this has helped my communication skills as I have had to learn a lot of new terminology.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was not given a lot of responsibility in the sense that I was doing tasks that can be fixed if there is a mistake. I was however trusted to complete work to a high standard and after a short time I was given some very complex tasks that carried more responsibility. Once I was given a task I was allowed a great deal of autonomy to complete the task in my own time and way so long as it was up to standard.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidance when I needed it. I had to ask a lot of questions at times and no one ever made me feel stupid or unable to ask more questions. I could always find someone to help even if I hadn't really spoken to them before. Everyone was very keen to support me and was very positive around constructive comments. The guidance was always very thorough which helped me develop my skills.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is very welcoming and open. From what I have witnessed the company do lots of events for the teams and everyone knows each other well. I myself could not attend any events but I was able to see how well the team knew each other and I gathered that it was due to so many inclusive events for all levels at the firm. I found it really welcoming to be invited to so many events.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It was a completely new area for me but it was wonderful. I feel like I have made connections with people that will last. I have also learned so much about this area of work and the company and I am so impressed by it all. Nothing has disappointed me and all my expectations were met if not exceeded! I honestly can't explain how much I enjoyed myself at this internship.

  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • I would say just be confident in yourself. The interview process can take a while but if you are confident in your skills then don't be afraid to tell them. Prepare for the testing as much as possible so it isn't all brand new to you as it will help you to relax and make sure to focus on enjoying the process. Don't put too much pressure on one application as this can make it too stressful.
