    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • - Attending client meetings with wealth managers and private bankers to see how relationships are managed. - Learning about how the bank operates, understanding the roles and processes in place. - Networking with colleagues, fellow graduates and interns. - 2 projects to complete with fellow interns: a business project and a CSR

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt a lot about how to better liaise with the clients, network and developed my communication and interpersonal skills. I am learning a lot about the financial markets and types of investments as well as services (for example financial planning) that Coutts offers to clients. I am also doing some research work and being supported in developing a wide range of skills and knowledge.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, by being placed right in front of the clients from my first week I have played a role in developing and maintaining those relationships. My research from the business project and other tasks given are also being taken into account in the business decision making, so I feel that my work contributes and makes an impact.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received the perfect mount of support and guidance. Every single person in the bank is supportive and has helped me learn something new. People go out of their way to collaborate and help each other out and the teamwork and culture are truly amazing. Everyone is keen to pass on their knowledge and support my learning and development.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • AMAZING!!! Everyone is so lovely, open and really brings themselves to work every day. I have bonded well with everyone I have encountered and people are just so keen to connect and help each other our. The atmosphere is one of a team working together to deliver the best possible experience to clients and each member of the bank matters. The people here are the best asset to the bank!

  • I love it so much! I get to do a wide range of things and have a decent amount of time to network too. Much exciting stuff going on so it is nice to get involved in the bank's initiatives
