    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Sat in a department and completed real work tasks, as if working as a trainee solicitor. Supervisors and trainee buddies assigned work, which you’d complete during department time. Breaking up the day, you had various meetings, calls, talks & workshops to attend each day which gave informative insights into life and the culture at the company

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Time management - being able to take on various pieces of work and balance your time accordingly so you don’t compromise any other commitments - such as meetings and talks. Working under time restraints - having deadlines for each work task, knowing how to prioritise tasks. Teamwork & collaboration - internally within the department, communicating with colleagues, but also with your peers on the Scheme, completing a group case study.

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Many opportunities to engage and ask questions. Everyone was very interactive and happy to go into details when answering questions - not only during scheduled sessions. The roles on offer were made clear during sessions

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Collaborative, collegiate and supportive. People trusted you to be independent with your work and make it your own, while always being their for support and to answer questions when you need it. Everyone works as a team- but not just professionally; in a personal capacity too.

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I loved the experience. I felt I had a direct impact contributing to real work. There were many opportunities to challenge myself, grow & learn more about the legal industry and the many intricacies of the law.
