The Role
I have worked a number of summer placements but this has been my favourite placement. Lots of fun, lots of work, I met so many new friends whom I am still in contact with, I was given responsibility and gained offshore certificates.
I really felt valued. Collegues got to know me and asked me about the work I was doing. We arranged staff social nights where I got to meet them better. All of them attended my final presentation and supported and thanked me throughout my placement
He was the most superb manager I have ever had. Left me to get on with tasks when I wanted but was always there for support. He met up with me regularly and I really enjoyed learning from him.
I was always busy but still had enough time to enjoy other company events such as lunch and learns. I was never bored.
I was given as much responsibility as they could give me. I was allowed offshore, I was allowed to look at provate and confidential material and I was able to implement solutions so long as they had been passed by management.
I learnt a lot about management and how to implement engineering solutions in reality. This really helped me with one of my modules which tested my ability as an engineer.
The Company
Amazing office atmosphere, so relaxed, open space, everyone felt equal and got along. BP put a lot in place to make your life comfortable. At my site their was a star bucks.
Really well, we were given accomodation options, given other interns contact details to talk before the internship and our contracts and location were confirm fairly early.
They invested a lot, having a structure programme, they also paid for my offshore training

We went out every weekend. We went to Edinburgh Fringe, Inverness and went to comedy, gigs, the pub, restaurants and other social activites every week.
It was very expensive prices were professional prices.
Aberdeen has a good nightlife , lots of clubs and restaurants but they were very expensive
There were many options such as sports teams and social nights out.
