    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • During my placement, I've strongly developed my leadership skills by leading multiple projects and working with multiple different functions. My communication skills have also strongly developed, both written and verbally. Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received strong support from my manager and coworkers during my placement. I had weekly meetings with my manager to allow me to convey if any support was needed for my projects, and I had enough to be getting on with. This also allowed both of us to ensure my work I was carrying out was relevant for my role.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture and atmosphere were very positive. They promoted helping and respecting one another. This meant I felt comfortable speaking up and talking to people whenever I had an issue or question. A few months into the placement, I started to run the weekly after work 6 a side matches for both Ware sites. This was a great opportunity for personal development and meet others with similar interests and get good exercise.

  • I've thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It has given me a great varied industrial experience which I can apply in my final year of university. The team I've worked in has been incredibly helpful and provided me with assistance whenever I have asked. I will be applying to the graduate schemes on offer at the GSK site.

  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to GSK
  • The company isn't too bothered about what you know in terms of technical knowledge. You can learn almost all of that there. They care about what you are like as a person and how you align with the companies values. I'd have liked to have known I'd have learned all I needed about the job here and not needed to worried about impostor syndrome.
