    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Role was centered around helping GSK to drive Procurement savings. I had a number of recurring responsibilities (including reporting of savings targets and performance management) along with multiple projects to work on. The projects allowed me to gain experience in working with different business functions, stakeholder relationship management, strategic thinking and development of effective powerpoint presentations.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Developed my skills in: excel, powerpoint, business partnering, supplier relationship management. At numerous times I was pushed out of my comfort zone (e.g. Presentation to a Procurement VP) which was a great opportunity to allow me to grow.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Good company culture. Unfortunately the office was still shut (COVID) at the start of my placement, and another lockdown mid-way through my year. When the office did reopen, it was often very quiet as many colleagues are still opting to work from home, so I didn't quite get to experience the 'buzz' that I had hoped for.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to GSK
  • My Advice - Great company going through some exciting changes - if you think you might be interest in the Pharma industry/ Procurement/ Business in general - give it a go! Application Process - From what I recall, application process involved CV, in-depth questionnaire/application form online with some competency-type questions, then assessment centre. Assessment centre was challenging but everyone was very supportive and friendly. NOTE - GSK do not offer places on grad scheme at the end of placement.
