    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Oversight and organisation of above site team and site team meeting. Management, design and oversight of TeamSites and Intranet site. Designing and producing a weekly 'coronavirus report' and 'GSK update' for the engineering function. Working with the Environmental Engineering team to run Community of Practice events, designing and uploading assets to their 'Sustainability Hub' (liaising with partnership companies in both these tasks). Involvement in a large rotation of projects (both long and short term) taking a variety of roles.

  • The amount of responsibility I was given gradually increased overtime. I was encouraged to speak up if things were overwhelming but felt trusted to work on things independently.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was always given guidance and support when I needed it or asked, however I was at the same time pushed to problem solve for myself when there were challenges to overcome. This balanced enabled me to become responsible and develop in a safe environment. There was plenty of training available for development at my disposal.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • There was a huge emphasis of the company culture - even before there was a refresh of it. Employees are consistently reminded on the company culture through various communications, office artwork and meetings. This made the company really feel like a place you can be proud to work for.

  • The placement was an amazing experience for both personal and professional development. I have enjoyed my placement immensely and would recommend it to anyone thinking of applying. It is a challenging year but very much worth it.

  • Research the company culture and see if it aligns with your own ethics. If you are successful in your application, ask for opportunities in other areas of the business if you are interested.
