The Role
Overall I really enjoyed my placement at HP. I have learnt more this year, about life, the business world and marketing than I thought I would. This year has been an invaluable experience.
At HP you are treated like a full time employee, not just an "intern." With this comes responsibility, you have to meet deadlines and act in a professional manner.
My manager was very supportive and encouraged me to gain as much from my placement year as I could. If I had any problems he was always happy to help and offer advice.
My workload varied from time to time. Sometimes I was incredibly busy and other times, not so much. I found this useful as it taught me prioritization and time management skills.
As the year prgressed I was given more responsibility.
I cannot reccomend doing a placement enough. The skills you learn are INVALUABLE.
The Company
The office was relaxed and had a open door policy.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Working from home
HP encourage you to look at a placement year as a year long interview... if you get on well at the company, they will go out of their way to get you back as a grad.
The Culture
Here at the Bristol office there are 13 interns, all with different interests and hobbies. I have made a good group of friends here and after-work-drinks have become a reguar thing.
This completely depends what part of Bristol you are living in. Some areas are more expensive than others. I would say though that the expensive prices are worth it - Bristol is a FANTASTIC city to go out and have fun in.
I LOVE Bristol.
