The Role
Big community of interns, lots to do, as well as learning the importance of networking.
Valued and treated, not as an intern, but as a colleague of the same level. Given lots of responsibility and trusted.
Brilliant support and guidance by my manager. Time was given for meetings to talk about my development to ensure I got out of the placement exactly what I hoped for.
Perfect balance, but the more you put yourself forward to do obviously means more work.. but more rewards!
Tonnes! Trusted from day one to get on with own tasks and to responsible for my own work. The work I produced on a daily basis was used in lots of high level management meetings.
I have learned extremely useful and transferable skills. My confidence has grown enormously from this placement and I will be keeping that with me for use in the future at University and in further employment.
The Company
Large group of interns mean it's always sociable. As well as this the managers are also keen to mingle with the interns therefore it's a sociable and friendly atmosphere in the office.
HP have been through this process many times now, they know how to set up a placement! From the assessment centre you get a feel for exactly how well the placement is set up and that continues throughout.
Every opportunity was made for me to develop my skills throughout the placement. Time was also taken out of my managers schedule to assess that I was on track with what I wanted to achieve.

The Culture
As well as HP interns socialising together, we were often socialising with other interns nearby for a great social scene out of work too.
I lived at home on this year so for me, it was cheap! The local area isn't as cheap as at University though.
Lots to do and not far to go.
Could perhaps been more sports clubs and activities outside the intern community but other than that there was lots of opportunities on offer.
