Overview
Researching the project I was working on, designing schematics and ordering components. Also having regular meetings with supervisors and customers to ensure the project is on track.
Skills
Python, schematic design, soldering and other practical electronics skills.
Responsibilities
Yes lots, which at first seemed intimidating but overall it meant I learnt so much and also am more confident at the end of it.
Support & Guidance
The support was there from the grad scheme students who were running our placement and they were really kind, supportive and approachable.
Culture
Really warm and welcoming and there is so much you can get involved with outside of the actual work such as Space2B (for women in engineering) and PRIDE at MBDA.
Your Impressions
It was a very good placement, well organised and everyone was really nice. As a woman in electronics, I did find the beginning difficult due to the lack of diversity, however, the company did lots to put me in touch with other people like me which helped a lot.
Yes
Consider how much you want to work for a defense company because I don't think I had fully thought about the fact it was a missile company and there were definitely times I felt morally unsure.
