    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • As I have done 6 months in one team and 6 in another I had the chance to see 2 different areas of the bank and these gave me a very good insite into how the bank is run. There were also many opportunities to work with other teams and to build networks within the business.

  • I was doing the same role as full time analysts.

  • They were always there to ask questions if I needed a hand.

  • Very seasonal business so it fluctuated.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was left to work indepentently and it was my own reponsibility to ensure the work was completed to a high standard.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt a lot about financial markets and how different corporate actions affect equity products. Before this my knowledge was very limited.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was so friendly and always interested to hear what you had to say. There was an open office policy so you could talk to the more senior people in the firm with ease.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well organised, however after the first few months there was not a lot of extra support and you were left to get on with it.

  • I've taken part in online courses and also various classes to improve my knowledge.

  • Subsidised/Company Gym

  • I have applied for a place on the graduate scheme, however this is very competitive.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We were a very close knit group and frequently went on nights out with my fellow placement students. With regards to my team we regualarly went for drinks after work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London so fairly pricey.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I have very much enjoyed the nightlife in and around canary wharf. There is a very comunity like atmosphere here which ensures you have a good time.

  • Lots of volunteering and charity opportunites.
