The Role
Very much enjoyed - work was for the most part challenging and interesting. Colleagues were very friendly and helpful.
We had very much a team atmosphere - I wasd made to feel like I 'wasn't just an IP' and a full member of the team. Everyone was willing to help anyone who needed help and I was often asked to help other members of the team.
Support and guidance was there whenever it was needed, but I didn't have my manager looking over my shoulder every hour to check what I was doing. It was a good balance so I could have guidance if needed but I still felt I had my own responsibilities.
It varied day to day. Around month end I was generally very busy. During mid month it could get quite quiet if we didn't have much adhoc work to do.
I was very quickly given a lot of responsibility as I was the only person working in my area in the London office from 6 weeks into my placement.
This placement has influenced some of my final year University modules, as I have picked courses related to my placement so I can learn more about the industry and the products. I have also learned many skills, including analytical skills, team working, organisation and, critically, excel skills, which will all help me greatly in my career.
The Company
We had a good team atmosphere as everyone got on well with each other. It was very rare that I didn't look forward to going to work.
The first few weeks we had many organised talks and classes to ease us into the company. We had meetings with HR to monitor our progress throughout the placement and closing interviews.
As mentioned, we had several talks which gave us an insight into various areas of the firm. There are also talks which are run throughout the year on a very regular basis which are open to all employees, including IPs. Also online courses we could take to boost skills in many areas.

Company Parties/Events
We do not find out whether we have been given future employment with the company until September, once they have determined their Analyst requirements for the following year. It is very competetive.
The Culture
A few events, outside of those organised by the company, were arranged between IPs throughout the year.
Central London, so always going to be expensive....
In Canary Whard itself, not very good. In London as a whole the nightlife is obviously good, lots of choice and variety.
A few opportunites for Sports Teams etc and then there were organised events within the department/team
