    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Due to managerial changes and exits from the business, I was entrusted with a high degree of responsibility. As part of the role I was solely responsible for PPE management and supply for the entire plant, including all necessary PPE for COVID. I was also responsible for numerous internal communications, including preparing and issuing Care Moments, HSE Communications, Transversal Memos and Alerts. I was also given the opportunity to work independently on a number of projects such as ensuring the plant was COVID secure, finding new and trusted suppliers, establishing and maintaining relationships with customers and suppliers.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The initial guidance was limited due to managerial changes in the team, and being left as the sole member of HSE for a few months. By the time a new manager was appointed, I had become sufficient in key aspects of the role, which allowed my manager to trust me to work largely independently however was always there to provide feedback and essential guidance when needed/requested. This was in more of an informal setting which was preferred, however formal feedback was often delayed or not provided.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 3/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
  • 2/5

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture was largely supportive, with all employees within my team being more than willing to provide help and guidance whenever possible/necessary. The plant and wider national HT team were very helpful in the transition into the company and dealing within any issues or queries I may have had. However, other teams across the plant were sometimes less willing to provide support and when issues did arise, a blame atmosphere would tend to ensue.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed the placement most when it was clear the impact I was having on the company as a whole as well as the employees. This was made more enjoyable when this was a result of having bee entrusted with responsibility as it showed my own ability was he result of the success. However, there were parts of the placement that were less enjoyable, with various conflicts resulting from poor established practices and in the initial stages a lack of support. It was also difficult to get feedback for projects and tasks being worked on so it was unclear how I was progressing in the role.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Forvia
  • Being part of the Automotive industry, the work as Faurecia is very fast paced, and will be an experience unlike any other. It will provide good and bad experiences, but all will be useful and will provide you with a CV like no other. The intense nature of the work can mean you may loose track of what you have accomplished during your time so it is important to regular review what you have done during your time here.
