  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Key responsibilities included the development of promotional and non-promotional marketing materials, project management, liaising with external creative agencies, increasing customer engagement through third-party channels, congress management, budget management.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Key skills developed - project management, stakeholder management, communication (particularly engaging with a number of different audiences), presentation skills, strategic and holistic thinking. This role has greatly developed my business acumen and people skills, and allowed me to push myself outside of my comfort zone in chairing large calls, hosting meetings, leading briefings.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given great responsibility throughout my placement. I was responsible for choosing which projects I wanted to work on that aligned with my goals, and then I was solely responsible for the progress of those projects from start to finish, with the support of my manager and team.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a huge amount of support throughout my placement, from regular group touchpoints with the HR team, to frequent goal development meetings with my manager. I had a weekly call with my team which included a reflection from my previous week, my focus for the week, and a check-in with how I was feeling. At the beginning of my placement I was assigned a buddy and a line manager.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is amazing and is based on 4 key values which are evident in all work that we do. Each employee is an embodiment of those key values, and there are a number of opportunities across the business to get involved with initiatives and events that support equity, joy, courage and excellence. I took part in volunteering opportunities, social quizzes, colleague resource groups and more. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement experience, it exceeded my expectations and has helped me grow massively personally, as well as an employee. I have worked with incredible people who have supported me along the way, and I have been provided with an array of opportunities that have developed my soft skills, business skills and confidence, which ultimately will help me in my future career aspirations. I would no doubt return to Pfizer in the future.

  • The interview process focuses on competency-based questions and values, therefore I would study the company culture and ensure that your values align with the work that Pfizer does. Pfizer respects confidence and boldness, therefore be brave in your answers and be yourself.
