The Role
All in all, the spring internship was very enjoyable, since it was a learning curve - an insight in most departments of a financial services firm.
Personally, from the very first day, I felt I was part of a united team. The Graduate Recruitment stated how tough the competition was to achieve a spring internship, so, I felt valued, and I felt as if I was part of the firm - even temporarily.
Although there was a programme that all interns had to follow, it was stated how it was up to us to fully utilise the week. Therefore, the appropriate support and guidance was there for any questions or help that we had, however, it was up to us to use our limited time during the spring internship.
The schedule was packed, I had a lot to do in the 5 days of the spring intern ship. Apart from the normal schedule of the spring internship, I had to research with my team for our group presentation, as well as meet with people form Morgan Stanley in order to ask any question we had. Therefore, at times, we were really busy. However, personally, I feel that this was the only way to fully utilise the 5 days at such a leading investment bank.
All in all, it was understood that it was up to me how I would use my spring internship. I was responsible for how much time I would put to research the group presentation and how my team would schedule their time around the programme to structure it. In addition, it was up to us to ask questions, and be present in the morning meetings - they were voluntary and therefore our responsibility to show willingness by attending them.
Although the spring internship was five days, it was very useful in terms of learning what an investment bank is like on the inside. The most important skill that was developed was the time management - knowing how to use the time that was given to us, and how to plan ahead with our teams. If the internship was longer, I am sure that more skills would also be developed.
The Company
The general atmosphere was electric especially because I was with another 39 talented and motivated individuals.
The internship was perfectly organised and was always on time.
Since it was only five days, the firm could only invest in us by showing us the different departments of the firm - which it carried out. In addition to this, we could see that the firm invested in us because we met with Managing Directors who were very busy.

Seeing as there is a fast-track process involved for the next year's summer internship programme, employment prospect are very good. The firm gives us a chance to prove ourselves within small Assessment Centres.
The Culture
Although we were limited with time, the networking dinner was very enjoyable, everyone seemed to have a very good time.
The are that I worked in - Canary Whard is the centre of London's financial district and therefore quite expensive. However, most of our needed substinence was catered for by the firm.
The centre of London always has very good Nightlife and Canary Wharf is very close to some well known bars and clubs.
There werent many opportunities, as we only had five days. However, Morgan Stanley did find time to organise a well enjoyed networking dinner by the docks.
