    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Because of the pandemic, everything was remote. I carried online research and compiled that research into Competitor Analysis, Pestle, Consumer wants and needs, SWOT and TOWS analysis. Went to intern events where we were taught soft skills and had the chance to network with people. Email people around the company and network with them. Do volunteering through the platform or learn new skills through HSBC online courses. I also had weekly huddles with my team to catch up

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I did enjoy it although at the end I believe that I will go for more of a technical role in the future. However, the general atmosphere was amazing, people were very supportive and the environment was very mental health friendly. It was overall a very warm, productive and pleasurable experience. I would indeed go back

  • 7. Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to HSBC
  • It is one of the most warm companies to work for. I truly advise it for a first internship. They don't overwork you to death and you get to experience a lot of the company and see if retail banking is for you. The only issue is that the environment is a large corporate one which means that initiatives go through slow so don't expect for you to come in and make world-changing projects. The impact of your work will probably be seen in 2-3+ years.
