    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role involved project management but I had a very flexible schedule where I had to figure out my time on my own, with little to no supervision. On a day-to-day basis I would often have a handful of meetings but mainly only if I set them up, and this includes mandatory intern calls and sessions. Otherwise I would work on my own projects.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I've developed my organization and communication skills for sure, but also learned how to use outlook and microsoft edge, along with the hyper complex HSBC network.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Absolutely. Something I really appreciate from my manager is that she has trusted me from the beginning with my own autonomy and to run projects on my own without needing to have any supervision, or at least just very little supervision. I've run and initiated two separate projects from top to finish giving me a much greater appreciation and exposure to the business.

    Culture

  • Very positive, everyone is happy to work at HSBC and everyone wants to help each other out which is really appreciated. It's very much a welcoming culture as opposed to perhaps a competitive, every man for himself type environment.
