  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My primary responsibility throughout my placement has been to lead and support projects, incorporating new technology in home care products across markets globally.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • The placement extremely valuable in helping me to develop my leadership and communication skills. This gave me the chance me to develop my problem-solving and critical thinking skills greatly as I was in many situations I had not dealt with before. I was able to make use of team members on other projects and different functions who were extremely helpful and ensured I made the best use of the resources available to me.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • My responsibilities included engaging with the local markets, working together to develop launch plans, artworks, and businesses cases. Being new to the role, it took a few weeks to become fully familiar all the working parts. I was able to connect with different Living Hygiene geographies and the functions within the company, this gave me a view of the global scope and ambition of the projects I was working on that I was able to lead.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received lots of support during my time on placement. Due to the pandemic there was a period of time where the team I was on was very short staffed and I was without a line manager for some time. However the other team members made themselves readily available and I was in regular contact with them and they were always willing to offer support and advice when needed.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Working from home during the pandemic it is hard get a feel for the company culture and atmosphere. However there were events for placement students such as Christmas drinks and quizzes which helped to connect with other placement students whilst working from home.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I felt privileged to be able to work on the global disinfection team during a time where it was at the forefront of everyone's lives. I was given lots of responsibility and new tasks which made the work challenging and engaging.
