    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The job involves managing relationship with an external buyer, managing P&L, ensuring orders are coming in regularly, future volume and value forecasting, cashing up and landing opportunities. On top of this, I have to ensure internal stakeholders are kept in the loop regarding performance, risks and ops and any key projects

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt many skills throughout the year. The majority came from the day to day role for example managing external relationships, the P&L and forecasting have being a massive learning experience for me. On top of this I have improved my ability to communicate verbally and via email in an articulated way as well as my proactiveness.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes - I was given an account within one of the major UK supermarkets to manage. While my line manager helped at the beginning the account was ultimately mine to own and shape how I saw fit. On top of this, I was given several major projects, including landing new products, in my year.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I felt I was given excellent support from my direct line manager and my team. They always took time out of their day to support in areas where I didn't have knowledge of what to do or who to speak to. However outside of my direct team there wasn't anyone I could really approach with challenges or questions.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • While my placement has been entirely virtual the atmosphere was pretty good. We had regular 'TV Shows' we could take part in or watch and there was a daily radio show first thing.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have enjoyed my work and interacting with my team during the last year. However, due to working at home for a year, these opportunities have been limited down to the nature of WFH. So while there have been aspects I've enjoyed the year in general wasn't quite what I expected it to be.
