    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day-to-day basis, I work within a team to complete an audit to the highest quality. On each client, I am given specific areas of the audit to complete that are appropriate for my level of knowledge and experience. Otherwise, we are in college studying towards our ACA qualification and completing exams throughout the year.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • My most significant skill development would be time management, as we have to be able to effectively balance our ACA studying with our day-to-day work. Similarly, as we work in teams, my communication skills have improved significantly, asking questions when necessary and updating the team regularly. Finally, my technical skills such as those in excel, have improved drastically.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, during my placement year we were given just as my responsibility as the graduates, and were treated appropriately for our level of knowledge and experience. We were regularly given guidance and help by more senior members of the team, so as the year went on we were given more responsibility that correlated with the growth of our understanding and experience. We are often given individual areas of an audit to complete.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • At the start of the year you are assigned a buddy and a career coach to help you throughout the year. Both are there to answer any questions you have, with your career coach taking more of a role of guiding you through your placement. During client engagements, I have found that senior members of the team are happy to offer you guidance and answer any questions that you may have.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I have found that PwC are very focused on their people, they emphasise a flexible work environment that allows employees to more effectively balance their work and personal lives with the expectation that their work will still be completed. They have a large focus on wellbeing and inclusivity and regularly host events to demonstrate this. PwC have fostered a great work environment, which I have thoroughly enjoyed being apart of.

  • Do make an effort to attend the recruitment events that PwC hold, as they are a great opportunity to ask questions and you may obtain an understanding of what they are looking for during the recruitment process. I would also recommend looking into PwC's core values and making sure that they are a good fit for you.
