    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I am involved in managing different projects for our core team or for other markets within the brand to help develop different assets to be used on various platforms and channels. This also involves working with agencies to create assets and material that can be used to market our brand to the consumers! It also involves lots of creativity meetings and brainstorming for new activations in the brand that will be rolled out within the other markets.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed skills such as time management through the ownership of projects and this has also meant I have learnt to deal with different expectations coming from stakeholders in the business. Other skills have included confidence, presentation skills and also leadership skills when working with other people. Not only this but also how best to manage other people and how they like to work. This is something that has been key in communication also.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given lots of responsibility on my placement which was daunting at first but I had the support from my team when I needed it and it has meant that I am able to take on new challenges and also be resilient to the needs of others so I am really glad I was given lots of responsibility. It made me adapt quickly to having to do something that would benefit the brand and learn quickly.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a wide range of support and guidance from my brand team but also my line manager who was always looking out for me and helping if I needed some guidance. I felt like I was completely supported throughout the placement and this was also given by my whole team also who were great to answer questions if needed. Working from home has made this harder to receive as frequently but still really great.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I haven't experienced a large degree of company culture due to us working from home but whenever we have specific Unilever calls or our wider team calls, there is always a huge effort from everyone to come up with new ideas and ways to socialise and also motivate one another but most importantly to make us smile which is really refreshing when you are only on video calls with people instead of in person.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed being on placement at Unilever as you are constantly encouraged to get involved in new things but to also get involved in other brands other than just your own. It has provided me with some great learnings to take forward in my career and also allowed further insight into the FMCG industry in which I would like to work in in the future. It has completely met my expectations and can only be made better if we were able to go into office.

  • 7. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
  • My advice would be to open yourself up to the opportunities that Unilever has to offer and ultimately just be yourself and show how your skills and experience will help you do an amazing job because Unilever accept people for themselves rather than what you put down on paper so be honest and show what you have to offer. Ultimately you should try your best and just go for it within your applications to show what you can do.
