  • Supporting the NonStop Sales Managers, sales & business teams with regular reporting and opportunity management tasks including management of the business forecast · Support the NonStop Sales Managers with urgent requests, as well as strategic planning · Supporting Sales Account managers with sales related tasks and projects · Potential to play a role in marketing events · Assisting and supporting with ad-hoc requests · Assist the team with customer requests · Potential for Customer visits (in conjunction with Manager or sales team) – with potential to own follow up actions. In summary, the most integral part of the role is to assist the NonStop Director in the forecasting process to model expected orders and revenue per quarter and provide consistent updates on the status of each deal per Geographic region and within this to track the shipping status of these systems.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • A strong mix of both for sure. Key skills required for the role before I applied were: · Effective Teamwork Skills · Ability to learn quickly · Accuracy and attention to detail · Good use of Word, PowerPoint and Excel · Ability to work independently · Excellent communication skills · Outgoing Personality The exposure you get in this role significantly develop all of the existing skills I had already had which got me the job in the first place, but I have since gained an array of new skills also which I have developed and articulated to optimise my performance within the role - these come as a result of being in the day to day environment and evaluating best practices.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I have been given a whole host of responsibility throughout the internship, I wasn't thrown in at the end to be specific but I worked closely with experts to develop which led to my exposure to senior tasks and led to the enhanced responsibility I have seen in the role. The more I got to grips with the role the more I noticed that I had a real natural ability to follow what was going on, particularly in the forecasts which as since seen me presenting our calls to Worldwide to present the quarterly nonstop forecasts. Also, my involvement in the shipping process has seen me now become the direct point of contact for nay shipping queries.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Throughout my internship I have received a whole host of support and guidance. First of all, within my team, my boss arranges daily calls with the team and weekly 1:1s with myself, this allows me to pose any questions, concerns or guidance necessary at any stage and allows us to keep on top of my progress. Secondly, the early careers team align us mentors and consistently check un to ensure we are all developing and getting on ok, this allows myself to always feel at ease and know where to go if I ever have any questions.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • HPE is renowned for its company culture and I can completely see why. First of all, coming into a company as an intern you think that you don't have the authority to book time in with senior managers, this is completely not the case, we are encouraged to do so and to try and make a difference in the company and feel incredibly empowered to do so. Additionally, the amount of awareness campaigns there are create an endless opportunity for involvement, a really important aspect to meeting new people, particularly in the current climate.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed the placement, as a very competitive individual I have incredibly enjoyed the challenges of coming into a big corporate company, enhancing your personal brand and working to make a difference. I feel the experience has significantly shaped my future prospects with the organisation and I am as hungry as ever to come back to the company and leave a legacy. • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Hewlett Packard Enterprise
  • Without a doubt, the one main thing I would encourage others who are applying for a role at HPE, particularly as an intern, is to take advantage of the wide array of opportunities there are and make the year worthwhile. Realise that you are lucky enough and deserved enough to be working at such a large enterprise and take full advantage of it by networking with experts at your disposal and getting stuck in to a whole host of different activities to help shape your future path so you have no regrets in a few years time.
