    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • Enjoyed the program to a large extent, some major positives being saving time on the commute and being able to hear from senior speakers globally, not just for the office I would have been working in. The HR team did a good job at organising a number of networking events virtually as well as these speaker sessions to keep us engaged in the program. The main downside was the fact we weren't able to meet other interns in person although this was clearly unavoidable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The culture and inclusivity of the firm and the team I was in in particular was brilliant right from the start, a number of MDs In my team reached out to organise a number of coffee chats to hear about my time and work I was doing in the team. Moreover my project was something relevant to the work the team was doing in general and I felt that my contributions to the project were valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Lots of support and guidance were offered throughout from having a buddy in the team (FTE) to having a number of contacts introduced to me from the start by my manager so I knew who to reach out to for different parts of my work. I was always encouraged to reach out to anyone in the team whenever I had a problem which made me feel very well supported for the duration of the internship.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not coming from a CS or finance background it is unlikely many of the skills I developed will become applicable to my degree however more broadly for my future career the skills developed and exposure gained will be invaluable for me going forward. There was a good mix of personal development sessions and technical sessions throughout the experience with a focus on us tailoring what we took from the summer aimed at what we want specifically.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • Exceptionally well structured experience, the first week was done as onboarding and welcome sessions and the different zoom calls and expectations one our time were very clear and it all ran smoothly. After this point all the HR program wide events were populated into our work calendars and that all went smoothly too - this included virtual intern competitions, volunteering and regular senior speaker sessions which combined gave a very seamless and professional experience for me.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • the general atmosphere was brilliant, everyone I spoke to o zoom calls were high energy, friendly and welcoming to the intern class I general and me specifically. I scheduled lots of 1-1 time with people In the intern class and firm and down to the last one everyone was exceptionally friendly and positive highlighting the general atmosphere created from the program. This was reinforced with a number of fun newtworking and socialising events throughout the program

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development, the firm invested a great deal in me. This started before the summer where we were given licenses to a number of online learning platforms which we were free to use to upskill prior to the start of the program . These accesses continued throughout the summer as well as giving us access to in-firm training courses and talks throughout. These were often suggested to me from my manager.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The virtual experience helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role within the firm to a very large extent. This was through exposure to people in my team firstly, seeing what they did on a day to day basis and what their responsibilities were along with speaking to recent grad employees at the firm who have completed the grad program and are now working I different teams across the firm.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • the virtual experience did a very good job at helping understand the company culture. This was a main focus throughout the whole program starting I the first week with lots of talks about the core values of the firm from the CEO and other senior leadership. Online training courses further instilled these values and beyond this it was evident through daily interactions what the culture was like In practise and how these values manifested themselves.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Being able to work on the same projects full time employees would work on was a big plus in helping me decide a future career path since it was a clear insight into what working life would be like. Moreover grad panels and networking events let me see what sort of work was done in disparate teams across the division which let me get a full insight into the breadth of work done across the firm.
